<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further enhance exhaust emission control during start of an internal combustion engine, in an exhaust emission control system of an internal combustion engine comprising an electric heating type catalyst (EHC) provided at an exhaust passage and an exhaust purifying catalyst provided at the exhaust passage downstream of the EHC. <P>SOLUTION: When energization to an EHC is performed during a period from when an operation of an internal combustion engine is stopped to when an engine rotation speed of the internal combustion becomes substantially zero, a flow rate of exhaust passing through the EHC and the exhaust purifying catalyst during the period is larger than that when the energization to the EHC is not performed during the period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
