A vehicle (1) comprises: a motor-generator (30) coupled to wheels (80); a generator (20) for generating AC power; an engine (10) serving as a power source for the generator; a power transmission device (40) including a sun gear (50) coupled to a crank shaft (16) of the engine, a carrier (54), the rotation of which is restricted when a brake (48) becomes an engaged state and the rotational restriction of which is released when the brake becomes a released state, and a ring gear (56) coupled to the motor-generator; a battery (70) serving as a DC power supply; an inverter (60) for converting DC power supplied from the battery into AC power and outputting the result to the motor-generator; and a rectifier (62) for rectifying the AC power generated by the generator to DC power and outputting the result to at least one of the battery and the inverter. |
