<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature detection device capable of detecting the temperature of the needle of an electric motor so as to protect the needle of the electric motor against overheating. <P>SOLUTION: A temperature detection device 10 which detects the temperature of the needle 52 of a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor 5 includes: a current detection part 11 which detects an U-phase AC current value I<SB POS="POST">u</SB>, a V-phase AC current value I<SB POS="POST">v</SB>, and a W-phase AC current value I<SB POS="POST">w</SB>of windings 55u, 55v, and 55w provided to a stator 53 of the permanent magnet synchronous electric motor 5; an iron loss estimation part 12 which estimates iron loss (p) of the needle 52 using the U-phase AC current value I<SB POS="POST">u</SB>, the V-phase AC current value I<SB POS="POST">v</SB>, and the W-phase AC current value I<SB POS="POST">w</SB>; and a needle temperature estimation part 13 which estimates a temperature of the needle 52 using the iron loss (p). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
