<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display with high productivity and high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display having a display area and a fringe area is provided with a first substrate unit, a second substrate unit, a liquid crystal layer and a seal unit. The first substrate unit includes a first substrate, a first wiring, a second wiring, a bottom insulating layer, an organic insulating layer and a display electrode. The first substrate has a first principal plane. The first wiring is provided on the first principal plane of the fringe area. The second wiring is provided on the first principal plane of the fringe area and outside of the first wiring. The bottom insulating layer is provided on the first principal plane of the fringe area and has an inter-wiring part which is a part between the first wiring and the second wiring. The organic insulating layer is provided on the first principal plane of the display area and the fringe area, and its outside edge exists on the inter-wiring part. The display electrode is provided on the organic insulating layer in the display area. The liquid crystal layer is provided between the display electrode and the second substrate unit.
