<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition containing a polypeptide related to osteoclast differentiation. <P>SOLUTION: The osteoprotegerin binding protein as a new polypeptide related to the maturation of an osteoclast can be identified on the basis of its affinity to osteoprotegerin. A nucleic acid sequence or its fragment, analog or derivative, vector and host cells for production that encode the polypeptide, and a preparation method and binding assays of the osteoprotegerin binding protein are described. Also, provided are acomposition and a method for treatment of bone disorders such osteoporosis, arthritis or bone loss due to its transition, hypercalcemia, and Paget's disease.
