PURPOSE:To restrain the internal short-circuit phenomenon in an alkali zinc secondary battery, by forming a mixture layer made of hydroxides of alkaline earth metals and tin compounds on the surface of an active zinc material of the cathode. CONSTITUTION:An active material powder made of zinc oxide is added with a polytetrafluoroethylene liquid dispersion to make a mixture, which is diluted with water and then mixed and kneaded well to form a zinc sheet. The zinc sheet is pressed and attached to both sides of a cathode collector plate 4 to form an active material layer 2 made of zinc. Next, the mixture of hydroxides of alkaline earth metals such as calcium hydroxide or the like, and tin compounds is molded by using the polytetrafluoroethylene liquid dispersion or the like to form a sheet, which is blocked and laminated into a mixture layer 3. By this alkali zinc secondary battery structure, the arborescent growing metallic zinc which can not be restrained by the hydroxides of alkaline earth metals is made to come in contact with tin and changed into zinc oxide, accordingly, the internal short-circuit phenomenon is extremely restrained. |
