PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric sensor capable of stably detecting a detection object in the detection of a transparent body such as a glass substrate, and displaying a received light quantity and a threshold for judging the presence/absence of transparent body detection as stationary values when not detecting the object. SOLUTION: An instruction of timing or a period to acquire the received light quantity of light received by a light receiving means is received (S501), and a display reference amount is determined on the basis of the received light quantity acquired at the timing or in the period corresponding to the received instruction (S502). In the meantime, on the basis of the acquired received light quantity, a threshold for judging the presence/absence of an object is calculated as a value smaller than the received light quantity (S503). The received light quantity received in the light receiving means is turned to zero when the received light quantity is equal to or more than the display reference amount (S506), and is converted to the received light quantity for display, whose value becomes smaller (larger) as the received light quantity becomes larger (smaller) when the received light quantity is smaller than the display reference amount (S507), and the converted received light quantity for the display is displayed (S508).
