<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content distribution system that reduces uneasiness and dissatisfaction until receiving distribution of a requested content in distribution of various contents including streaming contents via a network. <P>SOLUTION: A user connection server 20 distributes a content viewing software program to a user terminal 50 that makes a content distribution request. The content viewing software program executes processing for acquiring state information by periodically inquiring about the state information while storing connection information, comprising the state information and information regarding connection with the user terminal 50, and processing for receiving a service content according to the state information. A state management device 40 periodically confirms the connection information of the user terminal 50 and updates the state information on the basis of the connection state so as to notify the user connection server 20 of the updated state information.
