<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display device of a parallax barrier type that reduces unnaturalness that is felt when a viewer deviates from a right viewing position. <P>SOLUTION: A stereoscopic image display device comprises: a display panel of a matrix type in which sub-pixels emitting first, second, and third primary color light are arranged repeatedly in the horizontal direction at prescribed intervals; and a parallax barrier panel that receives light from the display panel. The parallax barrier panel comprises a liquid crystal layer on which a plurality of first transparent electrodes are provided on a plane parallel to the emission surface of the display panel horizontally with a space at prescribed intervals, and that polarizes transmitted light so that the transmitted light from either absorption regions that absorb at least one primary light beam of the first to third primary light beams or regions between the absorption regions is emitted from the parallax barrier panel. The absorption regions are repeatedly and horizontally provided in such an order as an absorption region for the third primary color light, an absorption region for the third and second primary color light, an absorption region for the second primary color light, an absorption region for the second and first primary color light, an absorption region for the first primary color light, and an absorption region for the first and third primary color light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
