PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and rapidly dispose an adjustment brick for controlling a combustion state in the vicinity of a discharge port of fuel gas and combustion air without a risk of fall or the like and at a reduced level of proficiency to control the combustion of a coke oven.

SOLUTION: The adjustment brick 25 has a special shape corresponding to a charging tool 24 having a special shape and operation mechanism, and controls the combustion state of the coke oven by changing the discharge direction, discharge rate and further discharge amount or the like of gas from a gas opening located in an oven bottom 1d of a coke oven combustion chamber. The adjustment brick 25 is suspended by use of the charging tool 24 through a combustion chamber observation hole 12 above the coke oven, and easily and surely disposed at a desired position.
