PURPOSE: A backing material for vertical-up welding and a vertical-up welding method using the same are provided to stably fix a backing material during vertical-up welding by inserting the backing material between two base metals and fixing with aluminum tape. CONSTITUTION: A backing material for vertical-up welding comprises a ceramic part(110) in a triangular prism shape and a metal part(120). The ceramic part is inserted in a welded portion between two base metals. The metal part is formed in a triangular prism shape in the ceramic part, with two faces in contact with the respective base metals. |
