PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the user to view 3D content suitably.

SOLUTION: A transmitting device transmits 3D video content containing video data and caption data and depth display position information or parallax information with regard to the caption data, and a receiving device receives the 3D video content, in which the receiving device performs video processing in order to display the received video data and caption data in 3D or 2D mode, and the video processing includes a first video processing which displays the received video data of the 3D video content in 3D mode and displays the received caption data in 3D mode by using the depth display position information or the parallax information. And, if an input signal for switching display modes from 3D to 2D is input from an operation input unit of the receiving device, a second video processing is available for displaying the video data of the received 3D video content in 2D mode and for displaying the received caption data in 2D mode without relying on the depth display position information or the parallax information.
