<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide system capable of enabling a user to easily reach a desired destination by using an electronic signboard. <P>SOLUTION: A camera device photographs an image including signs displayed on an electronic signboard (S21). Then, graphics and characters included in the signs are recognized from the photographed image (S22, S23), and the current place is recognized. The camera device determines whether or not the current place and a destination are on the same floor (S24). Since the current place and the destination are on the same floor here, (NO in S24), a temporary route obtained by connecting the current place and the destination by a straight line is created (S28), and an actual route along map information from the current place to the destination is derived on the basis of the temporary route (S29).
