<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser element with small loss. <P>SOLUTION: The laser element includes an upper clad layer formed on an active layer, a second order diffraction grating formed on a layer above the active layer in a period of diffracting the light, generated from the active layer and having a wavelength longer than that of the light having a highest gain, above the clad layer, a first reflection film formed on the first end face of a resonator and reflecting the light generated from the active layer, and a second reflection film formed on the second end face on the side opposite from the first end face and reflecting the light generated from the active layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
