It is difficult to store and aspirate liquids in reduced gravity environments without contaminating the immediate environment. Described herein is a container (10A) and a method for aspirating liquids stored in such a container (10A). The container (10A) includes a plurality of flexible columns (40A) which project from a wall surface (26A, 36A) of the container (10A) which allow controlled capillary attraction to hold the liquid in place for storage. However, the capillary attraction is not so strong that the liquid cannot be aspirated away. The controlled capillary attraction is such that a column of water which is between about 2mm and about 60mm in height is supported by the columns (40A). Other materials, for example, foam or fibers, are also useful for storing liquids prior to aspiration.
