Systems and methods of monitoring the risk exposure to a financial institution comprising the steps of receiving transaction data associated with an underlying financial transaction involving an account maintained at a financial institution and an originator of the underlying financial transaction; comparing the characteristics of the underlying financial transaction with one or more preset risk profile criteria; determining an updated risk exposure rating responsive to the failure of any one of the characteristics associated with the underlying financial transaction to satisfy any one preset criterion of the one or more preset risk profile criteria; and transmitting a notification responsive to the determination of the updated risk exposure rating.
