PURPOSE: A compensating device and a compensating method for a display device are provided to implement a compensating process with respect to the display device by an automated method, thereby reducing time required for the compensating process for compensating failure generated in the display unit. CONSTITUTION: A compensating device for a display device comprises a supporting unit(2), a driving unit(3), and an inspecting unit(4). The supporting unit supports the display device. The driving unit applies pattern signals to the display unit supported by the supporting unit. The inspection unit obtains inspection images with respect to a compensating domain from the display device which is driven according to the pattern signals applied by the driving unit and generates compensation data with respect to the compensating domain on a basis of the obtained inspection images.
