The pouch has a rear wall having a stomal aperture, and a front wall having an access aperture (62) at least partly overlapping the stomal aperture. The appliance further has a closure (42) for openably closing the access aperture, the closure comprising a flatus vent (60) and carrying a deodorising filter for deodorising flatus passing through the vent.
