<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image coding device and a method of coding the image which simplifies a configuration and can reduce an operation cost and, especially, to provide the structure of a quantizing means constituted in the image coding device and a method of image coding. <P>SOLUTION: In the configuration which adds a means (time domain expansion device) for canceling a quantization error in a time average manner to a quantizer, a time domain expansion device is operated by aΔΣmodulation. Consequently, a local decoder, such as a dequantization part and an inverse orthogonal converter, etc. can be eliminated, the configuration of the image coding device is simplified, an operation cost is reduced, and image information can be encoded in high precision. Moreover, since the frequency characteristic of a flicker can be shifted to a high frequency side according to the noise shaping effect of theΔΣmodulation, an image with less visual stimulus with the flicker suppressed can be acquired as compared with the configuration for operating the time domain expansion device by a random number threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
