PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable suppression of an increase in a storage capacity necessary for storing motion vectors.

SOLUTION: An image processing device comprises: a reduction unit that reduces the information amount of a motion vector of a peripheral area of an area to be referred to in predicting a motion vector of the area in an image as a processing target of motion prediction in motion prediction of the image; and a storage unit that stores the motion vector whose information amount is reduced by the reduction unit. The present disclosure can be applied to an image processing device.
