PURPOSE: A cosmetic material containing a compound which suppresses melanogenesis is provided to suppress pigmentation and to effectively improve skin whitening. CONSTITUTION: A skin whitening agent is scutellarin, breviscapin, tangeretin, dehydroandrographolide, swertiamarin, or musk ketone. A composition for skin whitening contains scutellarin, breviscapin, tangeretin, dehydroandrographolide, swertiamarin, or musk ketone as an active ingredient. The content of the active ingredient is 0.00001-10 wt% based on total weight of the composition. The composition is manufactured in the form of a toner, a lotion, a foundation, an essence, a gel, a pack, a form cleansing, or an ointment.
