PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for a vehicle which enables a lubrication oil to be supplied to a high pressure fuel pump without hindering compactification of a cylinder head and performs processing of a hydraulic fluid leaked from an oil control valve.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine for a vehicle includes: a cam shaft which drives a valve gear provided at a cylinder head; a pump case attached to a division wall of the cylinder head and covering an extension part of the cam shaft extending from the division wall; a high pressure fuel pump having a pump cam, which is provided in the pump case and attached to the extension part, and driven by rotation of the cam shaft; and an oil control valve having a valve body incorporating a spool valve and disposed in the pump case. The internal combustion engine is formed so that a hydraulic fluid leaking from the valve body in the pump case flows out to the pump cam.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
