<p>There is provided a high-reliability projection apparatus, causing no noise during switching of the optical paths of individual color lights. The apparatus includes a three-color light source 10 individually and independently emitting a plurality of color lights having different wavelengths, a polarizing plate 20 adjusting the polarizing directions of the individual color lights emitted from the three-color light source 10, a waveguide type optical switch 30 electrically switching at predetermined time intervals the optical paths of the individual color lights whose polarizing directions are adjusted, a diffraction type optical element 40 performing diffusion forming of individual color lights, a field lens 50 making the diffusion-formed individual color lights into parallel lights, a liquid crystal panel 60 having a microlens array 61 where a plurality of microlenses 61B are arranged in a matrix at the incident regions of individual color lights made into parallel lights, and a pixel section 67 where three pixel openings 65 are arranged oppositely to the individual microlenses 61B, and generating color image lights by using individual color lights transmitted through individual dots, and a projection lens 70 enlarging and projecting color image lights.</p> |
