<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air separation method which is available in safety because an oxygen gas having difficulty in handling is not compressed, there is neither initial cost for introduction nor dissipation energy are small, and is excellent in economical efficiency, and to provide an air separator. <P>SOLUTION: Cold needed in a nitrogen gas liquefaction process for manufacturing a reflux liquid used in a rectifying column 1 for rectifying an air component by cryogenic separation and cold needed in a reflux liquid supply process are obtained from a product nitrogen gas guiding process in which a high purity nitrogen gas taken out of the top part 1a of the rectifying column 1 is adiabatically expanded by a product nitrogen expansion turbine 4. Part of the nitrogen gas taken out of the top part 1a of the rectifying column 1 is caused to pass through a nitrogen cooler 6, a reboiler 8, and a supercooler 7 in order and then liquefied to be introduced into the top part of the rectifying column 1. As a result, the reflux liquid can be efficiently cooled without using the oxygen in the rectifying column 1 for cold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
