IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND STEREOSCOPIC IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which can realize stereoscopic image display by using special glasses (visual auxiliary tool) and allows a person viewing a screen without using the visual auxiliary tool to visually recognize an image with less discomfort and to provide a stereoscopic image display system including the image display device.

SOLUTION: The image display device includes: a display section for temporally and spatially separating and displaying a left eye image (L) which is to be visually recognized via a left portion of the visual auxiliary tool and a right eye image (R) which is to be visually recognized via a right eye portion of the visual auxiliary tool; and an average luminance control section for relatively varying average luminance of the left eye image and that of the right eye image, which are displayed on the display section in the same frame.
