Uppers.-A boot or shoe upper consisting of a single piece of material of the shape shown in Fig. 1 is cut to form a flap 3 which is folded over and connected rigidly to the part 4, by rivets 7, Fig. 3, which are concealed from the exterior, to form a seam on the instep portion of the boot &c. The seam may be strengthened by rows 8 of stitches. A patch 12 corresponding to the part 13 of the upper and a tongue are attached to the upper, and stitched seams may be made along the sides for ornamentation. |
