摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scintillator array having a high light transmittance and a high amount of luminescence, and a radiation detector having high detection sensitivity using the scintillator. <P>SOLUTION: A radiation detector comprises a scintillator array composed of a plurality of columnar scintillators which absorb radiation for luminescence and an optical receiver which detects the luminescence of the scintillator. The columnar scintillators are arranged in a two-dimensional array with a plurality of rows and columns such that the incident radiation is introduced in the longitudinal direction. The scintillator has a garnet-type crystal structure including Gd, Al, O, Ce, and at least one selected from Ga, Sc, Y, Yb, and Lu. The scintillator has an extinction coefficient equal to or lower than 0.005 mm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>for 550 nm wavelength light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
