<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an azimuth measurement method using a three-axis electronic compass, which is capable of accurately measuring an azimuth in a specific direction of a photographing device, for example, an azimuth of a photographic optical axis of a photographic optical system of the photographing device regardless of attitudes of the three-axis electronic compass and the photographing device mounted thereon. <P>SOLUTION: The azimuth measurement method for measuring an azimuth in a specific direction relative to a three-axis electronic compass by using the three-axis electronic compass and an inclination sensor for detecting an inclination of the three-axis electronic compass includes the steps of: acquiring an elevation angle between the specific direction and a horizontal surface by the inclination sensor and switching two output values to be selected out of three output values obtained from the three-axis electronic compass, in accordance with the acquired elevation angle; acquiring an azimuth of terrestrial magnetism from two switched output values; acquiring an angle of rotation around the specific direction from the inclination sensor; calculating a deviation angle of the azimuth in the specific direction due to switching on the basis of the acquired elevation angle, azimuth of terrestrial magnetism, and angle of rotation; and correcting the azimuth in the specific direction by the calculated deviation angle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
