PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the contact of the film present in a stretching section with the heater arranged in the stretching section at the time of break of the film.

SOLUTION: An optical film manufacturing method includes a process for stretching a film F between a heating roll 32 and a stretching roll 33 while feeding the same. In this process, the stretching of the film F between the heating roll 32 and the stretching roll 33 is performed while preventing the contact of the film F present in the stretching section between both rolls with the heater 37 arranged in the stretching section when the film F present on the feed route is broken.
