<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that reduces environmental burden throughout the life cycle. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention includes: a paper feeding unit 7 having the long side directed to be orthogonal to a feeding direction of a recording material P so as to feed the recording material P of the maximum size from the long side thereof; an image forming unit 6 that makes the maximum paper passage width equal to the dimension of the long side L of the recording material P of the maximum size, and prints a toner image on the recording material P according to digital image data; and an electrical unit 40 that manages the various control of the paper feeding unit 7 and the image forming unit 6.
