374,648. Generating combustion products under pressure. HOLZWARTH, H., 7, Goethestrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. June 29, 1931, No. 18794. Convention date, June 30, 1930. [Class 51 (i).] Combustible mixture burnt in a closed chamber 1 passes to a turbine through nozzles 6 when an outlet valve 5 is opened. The air inlet valve 3 is opened before the fuel valve 2 and before the valve 5 is shut so that scavenging air enters the chamber and, by reason of the conical throat 4, forms a piston-like plug separating the outgoing products of combustion from the incoming combustible mixture which follows. The fuel valve is kept open later than the air inlet valve and both are shut before ignition takes place.
|
