PURPOSE: A robot cleaner and a control method thereof are provided to reduce location errors which are likely to occur when jammed or lifted by obstacles, or location changing by a user, thereby accurately recognizing a self-location. CONSTITUTION: A robot cleaner comprises an image detecting unit(100), a feature point extraction unit(200), a center point extraction unit(300), and a control unit(400). The image extraction unit photographs surroundings and extracts multiple images. The feature point extraction unit extracts multiple feature points with feature point information corresponding to each of the multiple images. The center point extraction unit extracts center points corresponding to each group by assorting a fixed number of groups depending on the feature point information. The control unit performs an operation of similarities among the multiple images, and recognizes the location of the robot cleaner depending on the result of the operation.
