The method involves subjecting a portion of a welding wire (F) for welding to a magnetic field, and determining the magnetic permeability of the portion of the wire. The value of the determined magnetic permeability is compared with a reference value. A conformity or non-conformity of the wire or the portion of the wire is deduced based on the comparison result. The magnetic permeability is converted into a voltage signal to determine a conformity or non-conformity of the portion of the wire. The signal of sinusoidal voltage is detected. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing manufacturing conformity of a welding wire.
