A data read-ahead device of the present invention selects data to be read ahead on the basis of a communication environment at the time data usage is predicted. An information processing device is provided with the following means: a prediction storage means that stores, for each of a plurality of data sets, an estimated access time and an estimation time communication cost, which is the communication cost for the access means to access the data set via a communication route at the estimated time, or a communication speed for the estimated time; a cost calculation means that calculates, for each of the plurality of data sets, a demand time acquisition cost that is non-reduced with respect to the estimation time communication cost, or an estimated time needed to acquire the data set via the communication route and a demand time acquisition cost that is non-reduced with respect to that estimated time; and a selection means that preferentially selects a data set having a large demand time acquisition cost and outputs the identification information for the selected data set as the selection results.
