Provided is a terminal device capable of achieving high-performance sensing and reduced power consumption. This terminal device is provided with: a measurement sensor for measuring the physical quantity of the subject to be measured; a controller for switching the measurement sensor, when activated, from a non-activated state to an activated state; and an activation unit, which is driven at lower power consumption than the measurement sensor, for activating the controller when a physical quantity having a correlation with the physical quantity of the subject to be measured has satisfied a predetermined activation condition. High-performance sensing and reduced power consumption are thereby obtained.
