<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the vehicle speed at this side of a speed-up change point according to the flow with a preceding vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit for running control controls the driving and braking force based on the difference of the own vehicle velocity Vc and the future speed limit Vnl after the vehicle A has entered into a sign recognizable area at this side of the speed-up change point of the speed limit. Therefore, the vehicle A can be accelerated to follow to speed-up of the speed limit of the preceding vehicle B when the speed-up change point of the speed limit exists in the traveling direction of the vehicle A, and the vehicle speed difference of the preceding vehicle B and the vehicle A can be reduced.
