The arrangement (10) has a pulley (12) for driving an auxiliary unit of a motor car. A clutch element (22) i.e. claw, of a clutch (14) i.e. dog clutch, couples a drive shaft (16) of an internal combustion engine with the pulley. The clutch element is movable between a closing position and an open position by an operating element (26) i.e. operation lever, based on a rotation direction of the pulley. The operating element is directly or indirectly connected with the clutch element. A catch spring (28) is arranged between the pulley and the clutch element. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an auxiliary unit of a motor car.
