<p>404,090. Vehicle lamps. JOHNSON, A., 20, Diamond Street, and DOBBS, T. W. T., 16, Blackbird Avenue, both in Leicester. Sept. 17, 1932, No. 25908. [Class 75 (iv).] An anti-dazzle device for vehicle lamps comprises a series of thin vanes extending axially inside the lamp casing and arranged radially and edgewise to the parabolic reflector. In the form shown, the metal vanes 1 are held in position by means of a flanged locking ring 3 which is soldered, welded, or riveted to a holding frame 2 having radial notches to provide spacing lugs 6, by an externally notched locating ring 8 engag. ing in notches 10 in the vanes and fitted with a plain packing ring 12 and by an internally notched ring 13 engaging in notches in the vanes and fitted with a plain packing ring 16, a split spring locking ring 17 engaging in further notches in the vanes. The outer edges 1a of the vanes may be straight or curved to correspond to the shape of the reflector, whilst the inner edges of alternate vanes may extend partly parallel to the axis of the lamp as shown at A, and partly converging on the axis as shown at B and C, the inner edges of the remaining vanes extending nearer to the axis and comprising only the parallel part A and the inclined part B. A partly tapered and partly cylindrical opening 19 is therefore provided to accommodate the electric lamp bulb. The sides of the vanes may bo painted or otherwise made non-reflecting. A concave recuperating reflector 20 may bo mounted at the front of the opening 19 by means of a holder 21 riveted to hub portions of the rings 8, 12, the rivet 22 also supporting a disc 26 carrying a name or other mark. In a modification, the inner edges of the vanes form an obtuse angle, which may be rounded off.
