<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to an energizing electrode and a decrease of a success rate of automatic wire connection by preventing the generation of wire metal powder when cutting a wire electrode. <P>SOLUTION: A wire-cut electric discharge machine includes chuck portion electrodes 20 for holding a wire electrode 11 therebetween provided above an upper die guide 24 and on a traveling path of the wire electrode 11, a detecting portion 22 provided downstream of the chuck portion electrodes 20, and a tension applying portion including a brake roller 18, etc. for applying predetermined tension to the wire electrode 11, and has a function to cut the wire electrode 11 by applying tension by means of the tension applying portion while energizing and heating the wire electrode 11 through the chuck portion electrodes 20 and electrodes in the detecting portion 22. The wire-cut electric discharge machine having a wire electrode cutting function further includes an air pipe for supplying a medium for cooling a portion where the chuck portion electrodes 20 and the wire electrode 11 contact each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
