摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase light extraction efficiency of at least one color to suppress increased power consumption while simplifying an array structure of an organic EL element, in a top emission type light emitting device comprising a combination of a white organic EL element and a resonance structure. <P>SOLUTION: In a top emission type light emitting device, an expression of D=ä(2&pi;m+&phiv;<SB POS="POST">L</SB>+&phiv;<SB POS="POST">U</SB>)/4&pi;}&lambda; is satisfied, where D represents an optical path length from a reflective layer/pixel electrode 12 to a counter electrode 30, &phiv;<SB POS="POST">L</SB>represents a phase shift in reflection at the reflective layer/pixel electrode 12, &phiv;<SB POS="POST">U</SB>represents a phase shift in reflection at the counter electrode 30, &lambda; represents a peak wavelength of a standing wave generated between the reflective layer/pixel electrode 12 and the counter electrode 30, and m represents an integer of 2 or less.
