<p>A method and device for decoding a bitstream comprising an encoded image sequence, at least one image portion having been encoded by motion compensation (MC) using a reference image portion, comprises: obtaining an index i of a selected motion information predictor of a first set of predictors for decoding the image portion; generating a second set 814 of predictors consisting of the index number i 808 of predictors, there being no duplicates among the second set i of predictors; and retrieving, for decoding the image portion, the predictor indexed by index i from the second set of predictors. Also disclosed is a method and device for encoding (or deriving motion information from) images, again encoded by motion prediction/compensation using a reference, comprising: obtaining a number x of motion information predictors taken from a set, e.g. of n predictors based on a threshold parameter; generating a second predictor set consisting of the number x of predictors, with no duplicates among the x second set predictors; selecting, from the second set, a predictor for encoding the image portion; and encoding an information item to provide an index i of the selected predictor.</p> |
