<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a versatile solenoid valve to be used as both N/C and N/O type solenoid valves. <P>SOLUTION: On the left side of a spool valve 5, an N/C type first three-way valve A is provided, while on the right side of the spool valve 5, an N/O type second three-way valve B is provided. One solenoid valve 1 can be used as both N/C and N/O type solenoid valves, to allow excellent versatility. A hydraulic pressure selective supply means 7 selects the N/C type or the N/O type to use the solenoid valve 1. Besides, when the second three-way valve B is used (the solenoid valve 1 is used as the N/O type solenoid valve), an assist hydraulic pressure generating means 8 generates assist hydraulic pressure in a first F/B chamber A7 to apply rightward "assist force" to a spool 3.
