<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle allowing safe pouring of hot water because a disturbance of a flow of the hot water when hot water supply is small. <P>SOLUTION: The electric kettle includes: a body portion 1 for storing a liquid thereinside and detachably placed on a power supply base 4; a heater 12 disposed at the bottom part of the body portion 1, and heating the liquid inside the body portion 1; a lid body 3 openably/closably blocking an opening part of the body portion 1; a handle 2 firmly fixed to an outer shell 11 of the body portion 1; and a spout portion 5 formed such that the spout portion projects sideways from the side face of the body portion 1.
