Provided are an intelligent video surveillance system and method. The system comprises a cloud platform camera device, the cloud platform camera device comprises a camera, and the cloud platform camera device further comprises an inter-cloud platform device communication module. The inter-cloud platform device communication module is configured to send a control instruction to other one or more cloud platform camera devices or receive control instructions sent by other cloud platform camera devices. The present invention can fully exert the linkage of cloud platform cameras at various monitoring points, and automatically complete searching, positioning, and information real-time reporting of a key object through real-time information exchange between the cloud platform cameras. At the same time, surveillance personnel may initiate a surveillance instruction actively to perform targeted all-around search, thereby greatly increasing the real-time capability and initiative of the conventional surveillance technology, and improving the working efficiency of the surveillance personnel.
