The purpose of the present invention is to obtain counterfeit prevention particles that are used as taggant particles, are highly durable, and are of exceptional design. The present invention makes it possible to obtain counterfeit prevention particles characterized in being laminated from at least a resin layer and a metal layer, and having a shape that can be identified through observation under magnification. An example of a method for manufacturing the counterfeit prevention particles is characterized in comprising: a water-soluble-ink-layer-forming step for forming, on a base material, a water-soluble ink layer in a pattern of such shape as to enable identification through observation under magnification; a metallic-layer-forming step for forming a metal layer on the entire surface above the base material and the water-soluble ink layer; a resin-layer-forming step for forming, on the metal layer, a resin layer in the same pattern as that of the water-soluble ink layer; and a separation step for immersing the base material in water and separating, from the base material, particles in which the resin layer and the metal layer are layered.
