<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular magnetic recording medium capable of improving thermal stability of a recording signal by improving magnetic anisotropy of a magnetic recording layer without changing a conventional laminated configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The perpendicular magnetic recording medium is configured of at least an interlayer, a second ground layer, and a magnetic recording layer, which are stacked in this order on a non-magnetic substrate. The interlayer is a single layer of Ru or Ru base alloy, or a laminated structure of a non-magnetic alloy layer containing Co and Cr and Ru or Ru base alloy layer. The second ground layer contains not less than 30 at% and not more than 75 at% of Co, not less than 20 at% and not more than 60 at% of Cr, and not less than 0.1 at% and not more than 10 at% of W, and has a film thickness of not less than 0.1 nm and not more than 1.0 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
