<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly perform medium returning operation by a return lever while surely preventing next and subsequent mediums staying between a feed roller and a separation member from advancing to the downstream side during the medium returning operation. <P>SOLUTION: A paper sheet feed device 2 includes the feed roller 3, a separation roller 6, and the paper sheet return lever 11. A bias means 13 for biasing the separation roller 6 toward the feed roller 3 is switchable in biasing force for biasing the separation roller 6 between a first biasing force and a second biasing force larger than the first biasing force. The biasing force is set at the second biasing force when a paper sheet is separated between the feed roller 3 and the separation roller 6, and the biasing force is set at the first biasing force at least after the paper sheet return lever 11 abuts against the tip of the next or subsequent paper sheet during paper sheet returning operation in which the paper sheet return lever 11 rotates in the direction of a standby posture from an evacuation posture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
