Pulse unifier for different spectral colours of a super-continuum laser

The illumination device (20) has laser device (22) with laser unit (24) that generates wide band laser light pulse (30) having different wavelengths, such that light components of wide band laser light pulse are temporally offset to one another. A compensation unit (36) is positioned in beam path of light pulse, such that light components of light pulse exit compensation unit simultaneously. The compensation unit is provided with compensation element having micro-structured optical fiber such as ultra-thin glass fibers or tapered fiber made of glass core or air core. An independent claim is included for method for generating illuminating light beam for microscope.
