摘要 PURPOSE: An air conditioning system for an electric vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to reduce the air volume of an air blower and the operational rate of a heating heater and a cooling compressor when only driver is on board in comparison with additional passengers on board. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioning system for an electric vehicle comprises branch ducts, a film damper device(40), and passenger detecting parts(3,4). The film damper device is arranged in the inlets of the branch ducts and has a film damper(41) moved by a driving device. The passenger detecting parts detect whether or not a driver and passengers are seated in each seat. Opening parts are formed in the film damper to selectively open each inlet of the branch ducts. An air conditioning controller controls the exhaust of air for air conditioning through the branch ducts by selectively opening the opening parts according to the results of the passenger detecting parts.
