Disclosed is a system for use in treating or preventing an inflammatory condition, the system comprising: a device defining a passageway for flowing a biological sample, the passageway comprising a region configured to bind a primed or activated leukocyte originating from the sample; and an agent which inhibits the release of a pro-inflammatory substance from the leukocyte or deactivates the leukocyte.
